Ink on paper

I first started ink-drawing in the second semester of Junior year in college. I was searching for a new material inspiration and came upon ink. I was naturally attracted to the use of brown and black ink with water, and sometimes used charcoal to add different texture on top of it. At the beginning of the project, I practiced on small-sized papers and then moved on to the bigger ones.

DRAWING PROCESS

My usual ink drawing process is not that complicated as most people think. I normally use brown and black ink, and water to create abstract drawings. First, I spread water onto the bristol paper, then drop the ink to spread the ink out into various forms. When I drop the brown ink on top of the black ink, they resist each other and form very interesting shapes.

Unlike other type of art works, the beauty of ink drawing is that I could never expect its outcome before trying, and that is why it takes much trial and error to create one successful piece.

RECENT WORKS

In the past, I was working at V V Patchouli, one of the growing fashion brands, as an art curator, producer, and director. Artworks below represent some of my latest work-in-progress pieces being developed within the company. Each artwork represents "Dream Vs. Reality", a theme for this particular project.

My message behind the theme is to acknowledge that there's a gap between the two yet despite difficulties lied in our lives, we all need to continue to carry on and not lose our goals and dream.

Ink on Paper

"What trees teach us is the fact that they grow even during winter time. And the part that grows in winter is much harder and stronger than the part that grows in summer."
